    width adjustment and background

anybody have a good idea as to a way to get the metal grid background to line up on this page? http://www.bandit4x4.com/new_index.html

the problem is when i adjust the width of my browser, the grid piece that's attached to the left and right of my banner pic gets out of what with the background which doesnt move.

obviously i'm going about this setup wrong, but i dont know the right way. please advise. thanks in advance!!!

Don't attach the metal grid to your banner then, just remove it completley from the right of the banner, and remove it from the left, but you'll need to make it transparent to make room for the bit of the tyre that's sticking out.

are you saying i should use a png file for the banner? isn't that frowned upon because of the size of it? or is there some other file type I should use. unless i'm wrong, i can make a jpeg or gif with a transparent section, right? thanks!

Yeah you can make GIF's transparent or PNG, i'm not totally 100% on image optimization, but if you just create the image with transparency and then save it for web & devices, it'll usually choose the best option for you.

Try both a GIF and PNG and see if theres differences in the file sizes.

I don't think jpeg supports transparency.
