IE6 fixed layout and hiding form selects

    Hello everyone,

I'm dealing with a legacy system where they want a new fixed layout--the masthead and side navigation menus are static and do not move. Scroll the page down and the content disappears under the masthead, the side nav stays put.

There are some pages with forms that are used to drill down the info on the page. My problem is the selects will not disappear as you scroll the page under the masthead area.

And to top it all off, I need an IE6 solution. I've tried z-index but that doesn't work. I can't figure out how to hide the selects only as the page scrolls under the masthead. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

p.s. I'm pretty good with html and css but this is a javascript driven site and I'm not so good in just free forming js code.

Search for “select z-index bug IE” and you’ll find out why the selects are always on top of everything.
