    Fix the errors in your markup first, see http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...Inline&group=0

    Good morning jhaycutexp,
    It seems like #header and #featured_software are both wrapped in #head_body which has a #fff background. It might be easiest to add a #e8e5e5 background to #header to make your gap appear.
    Try this-
    Code:
    	   }

    #header{background: #e8e5e5 url(images/header.gif) no-repeat top;
    		width:900px;
    		height:160px;
    }

    I thought that was a pretty good explanation I already gave...

    Here's 2 more fixes.

    #1: Another way to make the space would be to remove #head_body so #header and #featured_software didn't have the #fff background behind them.
    You would need to put a #fff background around #featured_software for that to work.

    #2 You could also remove the #fff background from #head_body and add a color to #featured_software.
    Like this -
    Code:

    #head_body{
    background:
    margin:0 0 10px 0;
    }
    #featured_software{
    background: #fff;
    padding:10px;
    }
    #header{
    background:url(images/header.gif) no-repeat;
    width:900px;
    height:150px;
    margin: 0 0 10px 0;
    }
