Try to add this between your <head> and </head>:

    Code:
    <head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /></head>

    Hi!
¬ and © characters are appearing throughout my website, even though I've added the code given by CaptainB betweed the head tags.
Does anyone know what else might cause this and how I can get rid of it?

You may have saved the files themselves with the wrong character encoding, despite having a respective meta element. Show us your site. Which editor are you using (if any)? Make sure you save your files as UTF-8.

    Thanks for quick answer!
I've been messing around with it a little (may be that's the problem), but with no succes.
I used GoLive CS2, you can find the site at www.kpj-achtmaal.nl

I had this same problem. This code fixed it perfectly. Can you please explain what the code means exactly. I'm doing my best to learn. Thanks.

It is the encoding for the site.
Each character encoding type has different symbols and interprets symbols differently. If you want to learn more click here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Character_encoding or google character encoding. The most universal one is the one specified charset utf 8

Hi, I'm having the same issue? There's suddenly this ¬ at the bottom of my page? Tried the <head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /></head> but it's still there? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The page is http://www.herrick-photo.co.uk/
Thanks for any and all help!

¬ is showing on my live web site, why?

    I changed the heading to
    <head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /></head>

    I also added
    AddCharset UTF-8 .htm
    to the .htaccess file

I still have ¬ all over my page. Any other ideas? Thank you!
