    Just for fun

    I was fooling around last night with styling the option and optgroup tags in Firefox. Mind you this only works in Firefox. So it's something you probably would only want to use on your own private pages no one sees but you like I have.

    Firefox allows you to add background images to these tags, even animated ones. But not to the select tag yet. Try the following example.

    Code:
    option {
    border:1px solid #dddddd;
    background-image:url(img/tablebg2.png);
    color:#dddddd;
    margin-bottom:4px; // spread the options apart to see optgroup image
    -moz-border-radius:4px;
    }
    option:hover {
    background-image:url(img/anib1.gif);
    background-position:center center;
    border:1px solid red;
    }
    optgroup {
    background-image:url(img/a029.jpg);
    margin-top:-4px;
    }
    optgroup:hover {
    background-image:url(img/3706.jpg);
    margin-top:-4px;
    }
    Not all of us have professional sites. So we can add little things like this if we want. I love special effects.

    Don't waste your time telling me this isn't practical. Why does everything have to be practical? The world won't come crashing down if we have a little fun now and then.

    Lots of new stuff coming - http://nopeople.com/CSS/CSS%203%20stuff/

    Look at that in both IE and FF.
    Validate often DURING development - Use it like a splelchecker | Debug during Development |Write it for FireFox, ignore IE
    Use the right DocType | Validate your markup | Validate your CSS | Why validating is good | Why tables are bad

    Css3

    I sure hope I'm not dead before the W3C gets the lead out on CSS3 and the browsers start supporting it. I've all but given up hope on it.
