    Can't make a border?

    REF: http://moderntimes.com/tmp/

    What am I missing? On the above page I would like to add a simple border to the #wrapper{}, but I don't seem to be able to.

    As you see, it gathers at the top. I think I can do this. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Floated divs are out of the "normal flow".
    Putting an empty unfloated div with style "clear: both;" after all containing divs inside wrapper may solve this issue.

    Hi abduraooft, I tried that, but had no luck.

    Thanks,

    I know people get tired of hearing it, but you should validate your CSS.

    In the H1 declaration (line 45) you have:

    text-indent: -e1dcbfem;

    That obviously isn't a valid unit :P. More than likely it's bombing at that never even getting to the #wrapper declaration.

    I try to validate the css file locally using the Tools on my FF developer toolbar. But it fails, showing that every first letter on every rule deceleration is an error. I can't make heads or tails out of it. I know it cannot be that invalid?

    I fixed the typo in the H1, but it still won't work?

    Thanks

    Okay I got the CSS to validate, but I still can not make a border?

    Thanks, though for the tip on validating the CSS, normally just validate the HTML.

    When I added a snippet like
    Code:
    ...............
    </div><!--end container-->
    <div style="clear:both;"></div>
    </div>
    ........................
    in your code with firebug, the black border stretched and covered the entire text except footer.

    abduraooft, I really like the way this 'snippet works. How can I find out more about snippets? And also what's Firebug?

    Thanks,
    Michael

    I use a program called CSSVista which is like Firebug, but works also with IE.
    http://litmusapp.com/cssvista/
    It presents you with both views at once (Ffox and IE) and also the css on the left. Altering the code produces an immediate response so that one can see what happens with the alteration.

    Firefox allows users to write and install add-ons to it.
    Firebug is a very useful add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843
