    HTML Forums...?

How do those plain, html forums work? Is there a database involved, or .txt page?

You mean you see a page with a .html extension yet is running a forum page?

I would say that would be because the page has server side includes and is being parsed as a server side file.

Edit: Or like you said they could for well be text files, eg an .html being a text file.

Meaning that posting of a thread reply etc would just create or append to a text file which would be a .html file.

That would be a bad way of making a forum though. I shudder to think of it.

Can have php create html pages for you. It's not hard to do, but it's completely pointless as php can have html in it's pages. It'll use up pointless bandwidth etc too.

plain html, buy php can be embedded into the html, and it wont be seen in the source.
