    Arrow ideas on how to achieve this html layout

    attached is the layout i'm wanting to do, I'm posting becuase I'd like to get some ideas on the simplest way to do it in terms of coding (fixed or flexible) The thing is I'd like it to work on NS4+ IE4+ PC/MAC..

    the parts which confuse me most are the right & bottom edges of the boxes (looks like shading) this would mean tables inside table inside tables hmmm

    I'm not a total newbie to html it's just i can't think of a simple way to do this that will work on older browsers and haven't really done a 3 column style layout before.

    well anyway i'm sure there are many here how have done a layout like this, any info would be nice

    the shading on the boxes are prolly made with CSS border control, rather than a bunch of tables ... the effect can be achieved very easily like this.

    border-color:#000000 #FFFFFF #FFFFFF #000000;

    this will change each side of the borders, color.
    match it up with the color of the background, so the specified sides dont look like they are there, make the other sides the color of the shading you want and bam, table shading

    one prob with using css borders:

    I'd like it to work on NS4+

    bummer.

    I made the example image in fireworks. I think the only way will be to make a 1pxl grey gif and sset that as the background of a cell which will act like the line and then use an image for the sides with shading. it should then be able to stretch vertically if the text size is increased. oh well.

    die netscape die.
