    Help with making a navigation bar.

    I've been attempting to make a navigation bar where to add a link one would have to change one master file. I attempted this with CSS but became stuck when it occurred to me that using
    selector.class:after {content: "X"; }
    would not allow me import the entire navigation bar (which is in a list format). I've been looking for another method of doing this, but so far haven't found one.

    Has anyone got any suggestions of how I might go about 'importing', if that's an appropriate word, a snippet of HTML from another file? Or something similar so that every time I want to add a link to my navigation bar I won't have to edit each page.

    Php includes. Works for me.
    Google it for a much better explanation than I could give.
    Validate often DURING development - Use it like a splelchecker | Debug during Development |Write it for FireFox, ignore IE
    Use the right DocType | Validate your markup | Validate your CSS | Why validating is good | Why tables are bad
