    view video in flv format (embedded in swf format) on linux

    I have a video which is in flv format and I am using a swf file with skins which embeds this flv file as streaming media.
    I have tried to use the following two types of players (vlc and flash) and I am able to view it on windows operating system using both IE and Mozilla
    browsers. However, I am unable to view it on Linux.

    <object classid="clsid:E23FE9C6-778E-49D4-B537-38FCDE4887D8" codebase="http://downloads.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/latest/win32/axvlc.cab" width="90" height="96">
    <param name="movie" value="talkingthomas.swf">
    <param name="quality" value="high">
    <embed src="talkingthomas.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/" type="application/x-vlc-plugin" width="90" height="96"></embed>

    <object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="90" height="96">
    <param name="movie" value="talkingthomas.swf">
    <param name="quality" value="high">
    <embed src="talkingthomas.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="90" height="96"></embed>

    But I am able to view the following flash document on Linux.

    <object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="250" height="120">
    <param name="movie" value="alert1.swf">
    <param name="quality" value="high">
    <embed src="alert1.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="250" height="120"></embed>

    Can anyone tell me what I need to do to view the video on Linux?

    It seems like the flash version on linux is out of date. Update your linux flash plugin. Flash Video got big with Flash 8 and had some support in Flash 7.
