Which software to make image like this?

Which graphics software would be able to create an image like this where the photographs are faded into each other?

I use Photodraw for all graphics, which has a very bad fading tool with not many options and can't create something like that.

Adobe Photoshop, Corel PhotoPaint, Paint Shop... they all have this option.

    What it is:
Take multiple photographs and do one of two things:
    1) Put a mask over them and 'paint' out the image to fade on top of each other on the mask
    2) Use the erase tool (make it so the eraser has faded edges), and erase edges of the photo graph as you like so that it fades into the ones beneath it. Problem with is, once you erase, you lose it. A mask, as in the first one, can be deleted or changed without effecting the full photo.

you could use any decent grpaics editor. i recomned http://www.gimp.org its free and about as good as photoshop.

to do that type of collage fade effect you would need to use a feather selection and fill it with the image deisred. thenoverlap them and voila

whackaxe, can't Gimp utilize Masks on it's layers? The only reason I bring it up, is doing a feathered selection and putting the images on different layers isn't going to be that customizable... much less, it deletes the images directly. Not a good way to start out properly.

Does the program have a mask you can apply to the layer that can be painted either white, or black, to hide and unhide the image as you like without distorting the actual image directly? That would be a better way, so that in his method of learning, he does not have to start over all the time, or keep undoing work. He can just paint over it if he likes.

yeah if i remeber correctly it does. whatever photoshop can do, gimp can do with more or less dificulty. the only thing i don't really like about it is it opens new windows (that clutter up the task bar) for layer and tool interface and also that the windows interface suxs *** seeing as its a linux program.

in photoshop, you can cut it and set the feather to about 10 or 20px....as you wish........

anyway, cut it using polygonal lasso tool(just my suggestion) or others....

nodeffect, that's a good suggestion, however -- he doesn't have photoshop... and, using the selection tool will delete the image (unless done on a mask). A mask should be applied to the image before doing any altering, so that you don't destroy the image.
