Help with photoshop please

Hi there,
I have read some threads here and also looked at tutorials online (I have looked I promise . . . I feel rather silly asking but I am still learning, and people on this forum seem so kind. I need some help getting my logo or button (like the page tabs) I designed in Photoshop (elements) on to my webpage.

While I appreciate that there are alot of people out there who I could pay to do this . . .I would like to learn for myself, thanks

Here's the thing: I follow the turotial steps, create the logo, but every tutorial I have seen stops at "and there you have your logo" Now how do I save it so that I dont have the background (from the photoshop file) appear when I save it as a jpg and put it onto the webpage as ???

I tried duplicating and playing with layers and even changing the background to match the webpage background, but I dont like what I get. I am sure that there is something easy that I am missing I do feel a little silly.

any suggestions for tutorials that you have seen that show this last little step, or any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Transparency. JPGs don't (can't) have it. See GIFs or PNGs. GIFs are older and supported in everything, but can be less smooth depending upon the image. PNGs are great, but require some tweaks to allow transparency in older IEs. Pros and cons on those formats should be abundant in Google.

yeah so it was something easy I was missing. I saved it as .png and then had to eliminate the "border" that IE puts around it using It looks great now. Thanks

That's not a request for help. It's link spam. I've reported both of his spammy posts, but the mods still haven't deleted them.
