    Trying to embed WinMediaPlayer, Can't show controls in Firefox on Mac OS 10

    I am embedding a small wmv file in a website. It works on Windows for both Firefox and IE. It works on Mac OS 10 with Safari but I have a glitch when using Firefox on the Mac. It only shows a black box where the video should be. The controls do not show. If you click where the controls should be, you can get the video to play.

    Code:
    <object id="MediaPlayer" width=320 height=286 classid="CLSID:22D6f312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95" standby="Loading Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,4,7,1112">
    	<param name="filename" value="media/Foo.wmv">
    	<param name="autoStart" value="0">
            <param name="ShowControls" value="1">
            <param name="ShowAudioControls" value="1">
    	<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" src="media/Foo.wmv" name="MediaPlayer" width=320 height=286 autostart="0" ShowControls="1" ShowAudioControls="1"></embed>
          </object>

    You might need the Windows Media Player Plug in for firefox.

    You can get it here

    trying to embed wmv in firefox mac

    Just found this post and I am having the exact same problem. Works on Windows, works in Safari on the mac but will not show controls in firefox. Click where they should be and you can see parts of them temporarily and get the video to play but they do not display correctly if at all.

    If anybody has found a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated. Solution displayed does not work.

    Thank you.
    Dave.

    I ended up going .mp3 for the audio files and .swf for the videos. Just seemed easier; so I never got around to finding a .wmv fix.

    Why not just convert the WMV into FLV and use some free Flash video player for your site/page?
