forward params to file based on login via .htaccess

    Hi.

I have a .htaccess file which insists that the user must enter a username and password however, I want the script to do more.

How can I make it so that when business1 inputs its u/name and password, that it will gain access to the protected script, which (based on their login info.), will now have the params for business1 applied to that protected file?

Having just found this page http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/howto/auth.html, I wonder if I should do this through the server, rather than with .htaccess.

Your help would be most appreciated.
