How to build an exam result system

This isn't exactly a small question, it's more like "How the hell does the whole thing work?".
I want to know how an online exam result system works. A system where the user enters his or her exam ID number into a form and then receives his or her result and grade sheet. I want to know everything! how you link the form to the database, how I create that result database, how I enter the data, where it's stored...everything!
Is there any site that you can point me to? Anywhere that I could find some nice, thorough information on this issue? (By the way I’m not a complete dummy in web designing, but this seems to me to be far from the normal stuff)

I'd be very grateful for any input on this.

[I might not have picked the correct forum for this question, If this is better posted in another section please say so!]

You would approach the project in sort of this order:

    1) Determine how the grades are stored by the teachers.
If they are already using an existing database on a server,
or if everything is still done on paper. Getting all of the grades
into a server/database would need to be the first step. If you
need to start here, this will involve your server administrator and
some misc. software for the teachers to enter their grades.

    2) Once the grades are in a database, knowing what database
is being used would be the next step. If it's "access", "MySQL" ...
determining the database would determine what server-side language
you are going to pick. Asp, Perl, PHP?

    3) Is the student access to grades going to be accessible through
the world-wide-web, or only within the schools. This again affects
the server administrators. The school's server may or may not be
accessible through the internet ... it may only be an "intranet".

    4) Then the programming starts. If you had picked PHP/MySQL as
your server-side scripting, you would need to either create everything
yourself, or find an existing server-side script to use. You'll need to
learn how to program in the language you choose, along with working
on the database that's being used.

    5) Finally, the web pages themselves need to be created. This would
be the interface the students use to access their grades from their
    PC's at home or school.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

There are existing "complete" software systems available that a school
district might purchase, not just for grades, but student lunch accounts,
immunizations, emergency contact info, grades, classes, assignments ...

You're talking about a "HUGE" project with many aspects you probably
haven't thought about yet. You can be guaranteed that once you get
just the exam scores and grades figured out, someone will want you to
expand on it with other information.

Here is a list of links to some automated systems ...

    Good Luck

Ok, maybe I am a complete dummy in this kind of stuff! I basically only know enough HTML to be able design my web pages and not much more.

    1) The grades are on paper and need to be entered into the database. What software is needed? What do I need to know about the server? [Sorry, I really don't know much. ]

    2) It seems like I'll need to learn quite a lot. What database system should I choose to make things easier? Access? What server language should I pick? (Have in mind that I'll have to start learning whatever language I choose here because I'm not familiar with any of them, so once again the simplest one for what I need is the preference.)

    3) The server is not in the school and it's accessible from the internet and it's not intranet.

    4) Again we get to the what-language-do-I-choose thing. If I could use an existing script, that would be great. Where could I find such a thing?

    5) I think I can pretty much take care of the interface part. (I hope!)

    @shayanjameel08 ...

Yahoo! You answered a thread that is 9 years old! Great answer too!

Why didn't you just post the spamming link to your web design company in the Middle East?

I think this is a new record as far as deadthread bumping goes.
