Question A way to store notes on a site

I have a site that has templates to choose from, each of which has a designated number. Is there a functionality that would allow my users to store template numbers for subsequent visits? I assume a cookie would be placed on their machine. By the way, my site does support php.

I've looked around but I don't think I'm entering the right search terms.

A couple ways to do this depending on your setup. Are these visitors required to login or anything like that first? If so, just store it in your database, make a table with the ID numbers of the templates they want to save and another column with their user ID. The other alternative is to cookies, like you thought, with PHP or maybe even javascript to store the information.

As for pre-built scripts, you are probably going to be hard pressed to find one just because of the unique nature of such types of scripts. But it wouldn't be terribly difficult to write one.

I am not sure if this will help you but you can take a look.
The script uses Javascript and a cookie that opens Memo Pad in a small browser window.
Please understand that there are limitations to how much can be saved in a cookie.
