Need help choosing the right setup under Apache / IIS

    Hey guys,

I'm in my last stage ( team project ) before we enter our "stage" for web developpement.

We are basically a team of 4 building our final project before we all go on "stage"

We will be coding our project with :

    • HTML
    • JavaScript
    • jQuery
    • PHP
    • ( a little of ASP / Rasor )
    • mySQL
    • Apache
    • Ajax
    • XML
    • JSON
    • IIS

We need to find a solution so we can all work from home

I'm talking about needing a solution like SVN that can work under Linux / Mac OS ( not mandatory but it would be nice ) and Windows.

It would be best of we can get a solution that's portable since we don't have admin rights at school.

I would do know how to setup the system.

Can we upload all our files on a remote server ? Like a repo ? It would be nice if we can see our progress or changes thoughout the progress of the project.

I looked at various SVN like turtoise SVN but I need more advice on which one would e the easiest to install and administer.

    Thanks.
    Jonathan.

What you say makes no sense (to me at least). Are you saying each of you guys has a different set-up on their computer (Apache/IIS, PHP/ASP) and want to develop the same application using these different prerequisites? You’re thinking this from the wrong side. If y’all wanna work on the same project from home all you need is a collaboration management tool and a remote server (with a version management software – sometimes this comes all in one). We could use the latest buzzword “cloud” here. This could give you an idea for a start: http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/design...oration-tools/

I just discovered SVN ... I'm not sure how to have it setup ...

Obviously ... we will be all coding from home, Apache and PHP would be our preferences, the only thing i would require is the ability to work from Linux (CentOS) or Windows OS.

With a cloud service it doesn’t matter from where you work. It’s all on one remote server and you can access it from anywhere via the internet.

Could to explain the pocess to me a little more ? Sorry i'm still new to all this ...

Right now i've been looking at a few of the collaboration tools mentionned above ...

    • Podio.com
    • wiggio.com
    • vkolab.com
    • zoho.com

Which one would be easiest to setup :

All I want is a place where we can share files and edit them together, it would be nice to see the overall progress of the project ... It would also need to assign roles and tasks to users while keeping one ADMIN and the rest of them as users.

But all these still don't come close to Turtoise SVN where we could all work on various aspects of our project ...

    For exemple ...

    Person 1 : works on index.html

    Person 2 : works on products.html

    Person 3 : works on index.html

    Person 4 : works on services.html

It is all uploaded on the same "cloud" , everyone can view the files and modify them as they wish.

For example, Person 1 and Person 3 are working on the same file (index.html) they then commit to the "cloud" and the admin would view the conflicts and take the best file of them both.

This is what i'm trying to setup ... can anyone of you please direct me on how to create somekind of system like this ?

    Thanks
