I like wordpress for websites but hate it for forums - options?

I've known WP for a couple of years now, I'm no master but can put together a decent site.

But I absolutely hate it for forums. I also have buddypress installed which has it's own version of forums, but only for "groups" & now there is an option to have "site wide" forums instead of just for groups.

But I hate it all, I hate the layout & I hate the look. I understand you can make anything look or be where you want with CSS, but there has to be a much better forums platform where that much editing isn't needed.

But I just don't want forums, I need an entire website that has information, store, news section etc.

I also want the forums to be able to have true sub-categories, buddypress's option is just blah. It just doesn't look good.

Since I'm the most familiar with WP, I'd like to be able to add a better forums system to it, even if it's outside of the WP program itself as long as it is incorporated seamlessly into the site.

I'd prefer some type of software that acts as a social network of sorts compared to a traditional forum. That what was nice about the buddypress is that it's "social networking in a box" for WP but their forums aspect just totally sucks.

    What are my options?

    Thanks.

I think you should build you own forum in core PHP.. with help of any PHP Developers as your needs.... You can set your own designs, features and many more....
