Choosing the best hosting for your website

    Hey,
I would like to upgrade all my websites to apache servers and I would like to be smart about it and not just fall on the first hosting company that I find.

I currently own 3 websites with a possibility for a lot more.
I need the following on my hosting:
    - at least 1 GB and high traffic.
    - 10-20 domains available.
    - sophisticated control panel yet easy to learn.
    - support 24/7 for emails (not phones)
    - price range that would be less than I pay for the 3 websites I own. (20$ would be fine, open for other suggestions).

    That's all I need.

I just need suggestions for hosting companies you're using so I could choose the best one for my needs, so if you could leave the hosting company site that would be great and much appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

There are some good hosting company comparisons out there, you should google for em.

I personally love Hostmonster, you can attach unlimited domains, 100 MySQL databases, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited disk space, $6/month right now (I paid $7, they are having a sale apparantly), and the company is located where I live (Utah) and they staff their own tech support (as opposed to outsourcing) so I can actually understand them. A link is in my sig.

Hey, thanks for the your reply.

I really don't know what to choose, your hosting company seems rather cheep, don't you think that it's saying something about the quality of the hosting?

I got an offer for 22$: 1GB of space, 5 domains and 80 GB of traffic, that's seems rather fair. What do you think?

Thanks a lot for the reply. That really helps me decide.

If that's $22 per month, that is way overpriced.

3 other options to consider (no particular order):
    justhost
    godaddy
    hostmonster

    I wouldn't consider 80GB high traffic.

That is a horrible deal. Seriously don't go for more expensive hosting you will be ripped off. Generally you will pay $6.95 - $8.95 for good hosting, not a penny more.
Rowsdower! has accused me of having mental problems, and the administrator allowed it. What a great forum huh?

I use Hostgator.com for my clients that don't have hosting or need new hosting. They usually have 20% off codes on their front page for your first purchase.

I live in Israel so I think most companies out there in the USA have slow connection to my country and if I choose a hosting company I would like it to have a fast connection to my count as my incoming visitors are from Israel.

If there's a fast connection to Israel, doesn't matter where it's located, I would like to try it. Maybe the prices in the USA are much lower but it I can't afford to lose my Israeli clients.

    Thanks.

That's a new one I've never heard before BarrMan. Why don't you try loading a few sites that you know are hosted by American (or other) companies to see if these sites are slow for you.

Here's a site that demonstrates there isn't much difference: alertra

If you enter a site, it will test it from different locations around the globe.

When I clicked your website it took me a long time to enter the site. So as I suspected, USA web hostings don't have a fast connection to Israel.

Interesting. I'd be curious as to the results if you entered a site that is hosted within Israel on that testing page. I don't know any, so couldn't do it myself.

Wonder what sort of times the rest of the world has to view a site there. If I remember correctly, when you posted a test site, it took forever for me to load it.

EDIT: Okay, I found an old post of yours with a test site. The times were pretty good:

    Shanghai CHN OK 2.2 1.58
    Atlanta USA OK 2.2 0.10
    Chicago USA OK 2.2 0.24
    Orlando USA OK 2.2 0.26
Oklahoma City USA OK 2.2 0.33
    London GBR OK 2.2 0.31
Las Vegas USA OK 2.2 0.41
    Sydney AUS OK 2.2 0.76
Hong Kong CHN OK 2.2 1.05
    Sydney AUS OK 2.2 1.26
    Atlanta USA OK 2.2 0.55

It must be slow only going in for you. Perhaps it's an issue with your ISP.

Hostmonster costs $6.95/year, not $50/year. But yeah you are going to want to find a host near you I'd say.

With their promo right now its 5.95 a MONTH so its 71.40 if you pay monthly but paying in advanced might save you some money.
