mattover-matter, may I direct you to #1.5 of the Codingforums rules [seen here]:
1.5) Stay on topic when initiating a thread or posting a reply- When replying to a thread, try and stay true to the topic. This guideline is needed to prevent CodingForums.com from becoming a chat room, and to maintain the quality of information flowing through and stored. When future members stumble across your post looking for answers, they will not appreciate chit chat.
Could you please make your posts relevant to the threads they're posted in. However whitty they are, such comments as the above ("I use C:/") only serve to annoy when a member is seeking help or information. Spamming the forums with irrelevance helps nobody.

thickandthin, I use Easily.co.uk, they invented (read borrowed from a mobile phone company) the concept of "pay as you go" data transfer. I find their service excellent and you can start up for very little £$£$. Good Apache servers with php/GD, mysql, and all the things I want for messing about as I like to do. They're also an actual host rather than a reseller which is vital imo.

I'm with affordablehost.com. They work great for me, and are always very helpful.

And I thought the "I use C:/" response was appropriate. Some people host their sites on their own computers. That's a valid response, in my opinion.

    well I use

Brinkster and or any free space I can find with isp providers. Of course you're limited with server side work but hey, it works for me. Plus I'm tight and hate spending money!

sorry mouse, I think C:/ is a valid response too. Perhaps it could have been worded differently, but I think we all knew what he meant.

Anyway I use personal web server (C:/) for my personal sites
    and www.generalhosting.com for my business/clients

I use Jaguarpc - very good service, plenty of space and bandwidth for not too much cash, a fixed IP, and they'll happily install any extensions I ask for

has anyone ever used http://www.hostonce.com/ ?

There offer sounds way too good to be true. Unlimited pop3/space and bandwidth and a domain name for about $60/year USD. They have 24hr tech support via online chat, phone ect and they responded within minutes when I asked a question.

I am really skeptical about this but what a swingin deal if it's real. They include an option to host 5 top level domain names on one account for an additional one-time fee of $25 USD.

I've read through their agreement and there are a couple things that make me nervous (if they feel your putting to much strain on their server they can kill your account without warning.. yet you get unlimited everything.. hmmm) but still.. I'm so cheap and all hahahaha.

Has anyone actually used these guys?

ps. i use a local host which I did some design work for in exchange for a lifetime hosting account. I love those guys

    http://www.pay-as-you-host.com/key features

Too many features to bore you all with here but an excellent value product. I dont work for them; I'm just a well impressed client.

Where else could you ask the most dumb questions to be made feel really intelligent . And they give you the right answer too.
