AW Stats only showing 1 unique visitors

    Hi,

There are a few sites that i'm involved in maintaining that are currently showing one unique visitor?

Month Unique visitors Number of visits Pages Hits Bandwidth
    Jan 2009 1 207 3849 21115 226.09 MB
    Feb 2009 1 192 3185 15174 178.14 MB
    Mar 2009 1 225 3548 16193 196.55 MB
    Apr 2009 1 201 3707 19890 206.12 MB
    May 2009 1 210 3086 23536 205.26 MB
    Jun 2009 1 8 127 761 9.67 MB

Does anyone know a potential cause for this?

    Cheers,
    Picco

    probably is only one,
look in the server logs or near the bottom of awstat page, is a table with visitors ip. If there is more then one there must be a bug in awstat, but I doubt.

    best regards

Do you know what controls the IP address that is going into the start of each line in the access log? It's an apache/debian environment. All IPs are the same.

    Code:
    83.xxx.xxx.50 - - [03/Jun/2009:11:56:44 +0100] "GET /crm/gotocrm.pl?cid=105214&sid=219 HTTP/1.1" 200 214 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"
    83.xxx.xxx.50 - - [03/Jun/2009:12:13:32 +0100] "GET /ssi/crm/www.crmpicco.co.uk.js HTTP/1.0" 200 113787 "http://www.cruiseoptions.co.uk/static_club.phtml" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)"

what do you mean by "what controls the IP"?
the requests to your server come from that ip and seems to be, as you said, the only source.

    Code:
    83.xxx.xxx.50 - - [03/Jun/2009:11:56:44 +0100] "GET /crm/gotocrm.pl?cid=105214&sid=219 HTTP/1.1" 200 214 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"

user agent is different so something hide the original source of requests or all come from a bot. I bet on first,

    best regards

it turns out that the person that was deal with the DNS for the site was pointing at the wrong IP. It was pointing at an old server, rather than the one that would be picking up and logging all the requests as normal.

DNS updated to correct IP - now working :-D
