What can I use to track how many hits I get to my site? I just want a basic hit counter.

I've used Shinystat...VERY nice and very detailed reports. Weekly email with statistics. http://www.shinystat.com/en/free/info_free.html

By the way, a hit counter is very lousy information. You get hits from sources which are not real visitors, so something like Google Analytics will be able to filter out the robots and non-visitors. It also allows you much greater detailed information about what viewers look at and more, so I'd do what JCDevelopment said, because that is what I do.

StatCounter is a good one, too. And it’s free.
