    Text size

I am a little confused about the text size. I was advised to use the pre-set sizes in DW, such as small, medium, large etc.

Though, I have a website where the text size always stays the same, it isn't relative to the resolution, so you would get the text out of line because it doesn't adjust itself into proportion.

So should I be specifying the px, such as 8, 9, 10...?

Most people use either pt (point) or em
I sort of like pt myself, but it's a personal preference thing.

So won't it affect the design of the design of the website, it shouldn't cause any disruption? as far as resolution is concerned?

I wouldn't use points, as that's a unit designed for print. Just out of principle.
A lot of people use relative units (percents and ems) for sizing text, because these don't upset IE when the user wants to change text size.
