    Blog Traffic

Well as a beginner in blogging I have no idea whether my current blog traffic means I'm off to a good, average, or poor start. I'd like to get some sort of idea because I may need to switch content ideas if it doesn't work out. My blog has endless content all in the same niche. Any experienced bloggers here that could offer any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

So over the last week I have received around 50-70 reads a day. Most of the traffic comes from Google or other search engines.

This blog just finished it's second week today. I have submitted nothing to any sort of social bookmarking site, and told nobody about it. This is the only true way for me to see.

So if my blog is receiving 50+ views a day in it's second week what does this show? Any ideas on how it's doing would be read and taken as it truly is, help. Good or bad, let me know.

-Note this is not a "site review"

**post links to your blogs after your post so I can look at them if you choose

    Hello,

You said most of your traffic is comming from Search engines, so the amount of hits you are getting means nothing when trying to judge if you choose a good niche, or if you write good articles!

a better way to judge would be by checking how many of those ppl are return visitors. If you get lots of return visitors then they must like your content :-). Another good indicator will be links back. Id lots of ppl link to one of your articles then it must be good as well :-).

PS: What is your blog? Do you mind sharing it?

I'd actually at the present time prefer keeping the blog private as it may turn into a "review" thread which I wasn't interested in. I haven't even had time to make my own custom layout yet. I'm having some issues figuring out how to edit my css correctly in wordpress. I will tell you that the niche is a video game niche mostly geared towards the xbox games.

Is there some kind of plug-in to wordpress that would give me better stats than the one they give me added on already? Things like return visitors and if the views I'm getting are all different people or the same people clicking different articles? I would prefer the plug-in to be something I can get to from the wordpress dashboard.

    Yes,
One excellent plugin (a must have) is the popularity contests: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/popularity-contest/

You can also get Google analytics for other statistics.

I do not blog, but I have quite a bit of experience with wordpress. If you need any help with they layout/advanced features/or anything else let me know and I will be glad to help provided I have the free time.

And here is some pretty amazing free themes (proPloggers top 10): http://www.problogger.net/archives/2...dpress-themes/

    Good luck blogging!

Your host must have provided you with some traffic stats program (such as awstats/webalizer) free with hosting, else Google analytics is wonderful.

    check out blogburst.com
You can get your blog traffic from them(paste some code at your site). If you're one of the top 100 for a quarter(3 months) then you get some $, your blog posts can also be picked up by major news sites.
    Oh and it's free
