    Custom Error Pages in IE

So I have custom error pages for 404 and 403 errors set up in my .htaccess file, and they work just fine in Firefox and the 403 works in IE, but I still get the standard IE 404 error message. Why isnt't the custom one showing up?

    Page size

I can vaguely remember something about IE not showing the custom page if it is smaller than a certain size, but I don't remember what size or if it is even true. Oh, wait: Google! (Answer: 512 bytes).

I added a bunch of comments into the file, jacking it up to almost 10K(heh) and IE still wont show it.

Edit: I turned off "Show friendly HTTP error messages" in IE, and it is now working. But, does anyone know what the default setting for this is?

That seems to be the default. Can you show us what exactly you put in your .htaccess file?

Hmm IE7 seems to abide by the 512 byte rule. IE6 doesn't though or maybe it doesn't on my system because its a standalone browser?
