    Total noob Q about installing a javascript

    Hey guys, I just got into web design in late march. I want to add a javascript to my page. the script requires me to download a file. I have tried already(a few times) and it hasn't come out right. What do I do after I download the file?
    When I tried I downloaded the file, uploaded it to my public_html directory, named it fade.class like it told me, and tried saving it both as a text and a perl doc. It didn't work neither of the times. Can you please explain to me what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Joe

    It seems more like a java file NOT a javascript file. Where did you get the file from?

    What is the issue? All you do is follow the instructions. Download menu.zip
    Extract the files to the location of your choice, preferably in the same folder as your html document. Upload the two .js files to your web space and use the code they give you in step 2 to get the menu to show up.

    Yes the files should go in the public_html folder. I found the page that has the script on it.

    You have this
    Code:
    <SCRIPT SRC="www.awsomejoe23.heliohost.org/site.html/ssm.js" language="JavaScript1.2">

    //Dynamic-FX slide in menu v6.5 (By maXimus, http://maximus.ravecore.com/)
    //Updated July 8th, 03' for doctype bug
    //For full source, and 100's more DHTML scripts, visit http://www.dynamicdrive.com

    </SCRIPT>

    <SCRIPT SRC="www.awsomejoe23.heliohost.org/site.html/ssmItems.js" language="JavaScript1.2"></SCRIPT>
    It should be this
    Code:
    <SCRIPT SRC="ssm.js" type="text/javascript">

    //Dynamic-FX slide in menu v6.5 (By maXimus, http://maximus.ravecore.com/)
    //Updated July 8th, 03' for doctype bug
    //For full source, and 100's more DHTML scripts, visit http://www.dynamicdrive.com

    </SCRIPT>

    <SCRIPT SRC="ssmItems.js" type="text/javascript"></SCRIPT>
    You need to start double checking your urls to the files.
