    Members Locator

I am currently looking for a database or something to go onto my site. The way I want it to work is to allow the orginaization memebers to enter informations about them selves including Name, Age, City, State, E-mail and possible Website.
So far this sounds like a guest book but here's my catch I want it to be able to be searchable by name, state, City or website. And when a person's name is selected to show a profile that they have entered as well as possibly show a map of where the person is. Any one know what I am looking for I haven't the slightest clue what it is called if it even has a name. I might be able to make it if I could figure out what software to use.

Thank you for a Wonderful place to share infomation.

What language does your host support? Asking for a database won't work - there are loads of databases for loads of languages.

I know for sure it supports server side. I'm not 100% sure what all languages it supports he has 3 servers and one is apache that I know of but that isn't which on emine is on. If you know of some options let me know of them and I'll ask him. He's a really cool guy he even gave me his Home phone # offers 99% uptime or the month is free. He bend over backwards for my group but his programming time is still not the cheapest around.

Thanks for the reply maybe some one can help me figure this out.

Just found the info you are asking about.

Here's a cut and paste from his page.

We now develop in, support, and host a HUGE list of products. Here are just a few.....
Active Server Pages CGI Cold Fusion 4.5 Dynamic HTML Javascript PERL PHP (Apache) Lotus Domino R5 LotusScript Microsoft Access MySQL Visual Basic VBScript XML and lots more.....

You could try looking at http://www.hotscripts.com or you could spend a few weeks/months learning the languages you can use. I'd suggest PHP as the easiest to learn.

    Some PHP tutorials, references, etc

    Or ASP

    http://www.microsoft.com - somewhere on there

I finished a database driven college department site not so long ago. The code is ASP, database - MS Access. DB is set up as follows:
    Administrator can create/modify user accounts.
Those who have an account are given access to personal data modification page.

The database itself can be esily modified to use diferent fields. Desigh of data entry and presentation pages would have to be modified. If interested, e-mail me I can give you a qoute.

The college site I mentioned is: http://server.ime.uri.edu Faculty, staff and student pages are all database driven (so are news and courses, but these are not as close to your needs). For obvious reasons can not give you the links to data entry pages for demo.
