    Thompson Hell

    Hey guys,

Just wondering what you think of my SEO beating Thomson for search terms such as thomson tunisia trip or thompson tunisia review.

The Search Engine Optimisation was actually an accidental quality of the rant I wrote about my horrible holiday with thompson, but I just wanted to see wether you guys thought it was going to give me leverage in my complaint against them (which they've had for 28 days now)

My horrendous Thompson holiday to Tunisia

Trying to make this viral, so if you can blog, post, tweet, digg, stumbleupon or whatever about it. I would appreciate it.

    Thanks guys!

    Not bad so far.

But honestly, if you book a cheap package tour I wouldn’t be surprised that you are treated accordingly. If you want to experience the country don’t book a full board trip where they show you only the mass tourist locations and stuff. The only reasons such a trip can be so “cheap” (on the paper) are that you have crappy hotels and meals, are part of a mass processing of toursits and have hidden extra costs. You can’t have quality for cheap. Never.

I've read your blogs about your trip, and I am genuinely sorry you had to go through that. But at least you've come out quite a bit more knowledgeable on the tourism industry and travel packages. NEVER book a full travel package deal through a travel agency EVER, no matter what the price! They're always going to be much more expensive and cheap looking than planning the trip yourself. Research online and book hotels based on traveler reviews (like ones found on tripadvisor). It's okay to do a preplanned tour here and there if it sounds like something that is very worth it, difficult to do on your own, and receives positive reviews. Tipping is always a huge part of doing tours and preplanned packages, so avoid them if possible.

As you found out, travel agencies will tell you anything to get you to book. They make commission off of every sale, and so it's how they make their money. You will find honest ones every now and then, but it's much more rare.

Always research, research, research before you book travel plans, esp. out of the country. The internet is a great source of info if you use it wisely. Better luck next time

Thanks for the helpful words guys, the worst thing is it wasn't cheap we're both well travelled and quite honestly couldn't be bothered with hunting through reviews and getting quotes, so we just saved and got a holiday pre-booekd and "hassle-free"

Believe it or not I'm STILL battling with them, I had to twitter them recently and now I've gotten email contact as their internet department realised I was owning them on Google :P
