Some Comcast username and passwords found on Scrib

I was reading some feeds from Lifehacker and saw this one

    http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/0...omers-exposed/

While comcast claims its only 700 usernames its still alot. This isn't good publicity for seeing as how they already limit bandwidth and they are trying to work with Sony to make some kind of store. The site mentioned in the story was http://www.pipl.com which looks through many search engines for whatever you give it, name, email, username, phone. Luckily my personal email address isn't found but my secondary one was. That would explain why I got so much spam. I thought I was careful with it but guess not. It even found a "Wish List" for amazon.com which I found strange. Why was it still there even though it was old? I'm going to search for my telephone number next.

So what did pipl find out about you?

I’ve successfully refrained from becoming a member in social networks etc. and I’m feeling like having done the right thing. This search engine doesn’t find very much useful info about me (that I don’t want to be found).

I skimmed through the ToS and Privacy of Pipl and didn't see anything that says that can't collect the information that you've submitted through their search and use/distribute it.

Did anyone else see anything regarding that? I just want to make sure that if I search a phone number or email, they're not going to turn around and give it to some 3rd party or use it for their own private use.

Hmm yeah its kind of vague but they just say in their privacy page that they are collecting info on the way you use pipl but I don't know if that means they collect what you enter...

No email addresses for me, but previous and current street addresses and previous phone numbers... current phone number is Vonage and it wasn't found. That's awesome.

Looks like I'm from another planet. Haven't found a thing about myself, though some stuff about people with same name is interesting...

Interestingly enough, an email address I've been using for about 4 months just got found by the RX spammers! I'm racking my brain trying to think which websites I gave the address to. Dish Network... you think they sold my email address??? Grr. Guess it's time to make a new one.

(no, I didn't enter my email address into pipl.com)
