I highly doubt that is true. Not that I doubt the range of stupidity in people, but you could only hope to cut that card with a saw accurately and even the dumbest people would realize that if something was meant to be cut, it'd be made easier to do so than with a table saw or something. Could you imagine the shards coming off that while cutting? haha. And also for TWO people to think that cutting a "computer thingie" in half is normal? C'mon.

Aside from that, there are indications in the post itself that someone was "acting" the part.

First, the person never suggested any earlier attempts of inserting the card and then says "now it doesn't work", as if it worked before. Seems like bad planning on the story to me.

Second, the person just happens not to have a camera. Hmmm. You buy a 7800 but don't have a digital camera? Highly unlikely (not improbable tho).

I could believe the story about someone duct taping their PS3's vents to prevent dust from getting in and thus frying their system, but cutting a video card nearly in half to fit it in a slot? Even if a person was dumb enough to attempt it, there is no way someone would actually be able to cut it successfully enough to actually think they did the right thing. They're saavy enough to go out and buy the card and post on tech forums, but think that you can cut computer part? I don't believe it.

Yes, I'm attempting to avoid work right now, so over-analyzing this post seemed like one way, haha.

Oh, I totally believe someone would do that. I've seen plenty of people do some really amazingly dumb things. And if you want more stories: http://www.rinkworks.com/stupid/cs_abuse.shtml

Heh. I've started reading some of them and it's hilarious.
If you have some more funny tech stories please post them
