    Counting Flags

Hey, so I thought of a feature that could be nice for the Coding Forums.

What if we had a counter (Along the line of thanks) or increased reputation for helpful flags people submit?

This could increase the willingness of people to call bull on spammers and fluff posters, and could help clean up the forum.

    Whaddaya think?

Owners have a 60 second delay between reporting posts (SPAM or otherwise). Probably not real high on their priority list.

If anyone knows of a website that can offer ColdFusion help that isn't controlled by neurotic, pedantic jerks* (stackoverflow.com), please PM me with a link.

I don’t think people are unwilling to report spam or fluff, and spam has really decreased again, lately; most likely because an appropriate spam filter add-on has been installed (the old one for the old forum wasn’t compatible with the new version, that’s why there was more spam after the upgrade). Yes, occasionally there are still spammers making it through but they are being reported and taken care of as soon as a moderator is available.

That has been the case even before the change of ownership and exactly been established as countermeasure against spamming so that’s nothing to blame the current owners for. There was a spammer today that created many posts, this is true, but without the 60 second limit it would probably have been even more. And the little spam that makes it through all barriers doesn’t get deleted quicker if it’s being reported more frequently, it still needs a moderator or admin to delete it (and there is a mass deletion tool so all posts by a spammer can be deleted at once, so it suffices to report just one post by a spammer).
