    You're saying that this forum won't run if new users can't spam completely irrelevant links in their sigs? I would bet against that. Some people (especially new users) come here to get help with their code. They're still going to need help even if they can't SEO-spam us. Other people come here to help people fix their code. They're still going to want to help for fun, for practice, or just for the sake of helping others (believe it or not). Spammers come here to advertise... That doesn't add much to the community. We won't really miss spammers if and when they go.

    I won't beat a dead horse about this, but I'll just dare you to find anything personally profitable about the links in my sig.

    It's usually a good idea to start out with this at the VERY TOP of your CSS: * {border:0;margin:0;padding:0;}

Please don't take my words wrong. You should remove " rel="nofollow" tags from each link but what you have to do is just stricken the rules of your forum for new members. If you don't agree with me, just add " rel="nofollow" to every signature and within month there will be least or no new thread or post on your forum.
    Complete and utter tosh.

    You're G.K.Chesterton's grandson and own the copyright to his back catalogue? (ah, that's not a link though)

    I'll just add my twopennorth to support the "we're not all in it for the links" sentiment.
