Question Why has the Who's Online thing been disabled?

    Hi,
I was wondering why the "Who's Online" page has been disabled by the administrators?

This is a feature that I use a lot on other forums, and would like to make use of it here too.

That's true, but there list of users under the line "Most users ever online was 3,242, 04-29-2009 at 11:08 PM." on the home page. You don't have to click that "Currently Active Users:" link

Damn, look at those toolbars, they are taking half of the browser window’s height!

Well, the thing is, I don't just want to know what users are online. I want to know which users are viewing which pages.

It's a matter of privacy that I initially decided to disable that page. I see little reason why one member should or would want to know exactly what another member is currently doing on the forums. If the majority thinks otherwise, I can turn the feature back on.

Well, it is my opinion that this is not a privacy concern, seeing as a member can always set their profile to the "invisible" mode so he/she won't show up in the online list, if they don't want people seeing what page they're viewing.
And the reason I like the feature is, it helps me see if someone who responded to a thread I started is viewing (and/or responding to) my thread again after I made a reply to their post. This way, if they're not, I can go do something else (i.e. maybe search for answers elsewhere), and check back every now and then to see if they're viewing my most recent post yet.
This saves me from sitting on my thumbs and waiting for a reply. It also makes time pass quicker.

Anyway, I don't guess its a big deal, but still...its a feature that I would like to see enabled. Who's with me?

Just turn on email notifications. No need to refresh every 1 second then. I prefer it how it is.

I agree with Nightfire. Subscribe to the threads you want and get a notification for when someone replies.
