    Post The Chickens Have Escaped! We are defenceless!

    (I couldn't find an introductions forum, so I picked a forum that was pretty much off topic as to not be labeled as a spammer. )

    PHP Code:
    <?php echo 'Hello World.'?>
    A little about me: I like and use humor, see title of post! I have run forums online since 2003. I use to be a SysOp, if you know what that is. In 2006 I found vbulletin, and became a moderator at AdminFusion.com in Feb of that year. It didn't take long for me to become an admin there! I have owned & sold 4 vB licenses, and still own one at this time. Sadly, I don't have time to run forums, save my poker league forum. And, I stepped down to moderator at AF. (I have the same moniker there: RedMatrix)

    Suffice it to say, I know vb forums well, and know how to behave. I have read the rules, and the following rule is a little iffy to me:
    • 1.3) No advertisements- CodingForums.com is not the classified ads. Do not post advertisements/ self promotion/ spam of any kind. Doing so will get you banned.

    I am not promoting anything in this post; but I believe in being through in my introduction and my online history. That is why I have included those links above. If a member of management happens upon this thread and thinks otherwise, please give me the benefit of the doubt and just strip the links, and don't ban me. I can be a top contributor in the long haul.

    My name is David, and I am pushing 35 yrs of age. I have dabbled in affiliate marketing and am a domainer. (I keep buying domain names, and do nothing with 'em!)

    I had a 'Computer Science' and 'Computer Math' class while in highschool in the early 90's. There I learned qBASIC on a Mac LC I with System 6! I dabbled in C, C+, and C# but never did anything with that, and have forgotten 99% of it!

    Anyhoo, I am now interested in PHP, mySQL and have already gleaned a lot from google searches that reference this board. I know I will probably have a lot of syntax / structure questions in the coming months, and decided to register now, and start building rapport already.

    Current Project is to create software for Affiliate Marketers, and sell it to them. Hey, you know what they say about the gold rush in `49! (Those that got rich weren't the ones panning for gold, rather those selling the shovels, buckets, and pans!)

    Well, Usually I am an open book, but if you have any queries about me, I am more than happy to talk about myself.

    Hi RedMatrix,

    There is no introductions forum because people usually don’t care who you are and what you do the whole day as long as you contribute in a helpful manner to this forum. Likewise it’s not necessary to post links to the sites you are member of, or owning, while introducing yourself because this is close to being interpreted as shameless advertising (i. e. you could as well just write the forum name without linking to it).

    So, in a nutshell: Don’t babble about your life, contribute.

    As VIPStephan said, we don't do introductions here. Linking to your own sites in a thread you start without reason, especially when you put referral information in the URL appears as self promotion. You are allowed to link to your site in your signature as many of our members do.

    Yep, on a forum where everyone is faceless, your actions are what counts, not who you are and where you come from. I've never understood introductions on forums- just sounds like a convenient way to increase your post count or promote something.

    Welcome to the forums btw.

    Thanks for the welcome. This forum doesn't count posts, so that's good. And I am already contributing. See ya on the other forums.
