Cool Is there a place for SEO?

Love the message board. I have been posting a lot at some other boards, but I really like some of the MODs you have on this site. Not too crazy about the number of advertisements... but you gotta pay the hosting fees somehow.

I was wondering if there is/could be an SEO forum placed somewhere? I didn't look super hard, but I figured if it wasn't obvious it probably wasn't there.

SEO may not be code in the traditional sense, but as it relates to many different areas within web development I thought it might help some developers.

    Kudos!

    We have advertisements?

I don't think we really need a forum dedicated to SEO. Posts of that nature can go in the General Web Development forum.

You don't see the large banner ad at the top of the forum? Or the ads on the codingforums.com webpage (featured partners)?

I suppose SEO posts could just go in the general forum, but I thought it was worth asking.

CF members mainly consist of the coding crowd, so a SEO forum most likely will be very quiet, at least at this point in time.

Switch off your Ad Blocker! That’s against the Terms of Use anyway and will get you banned soon (once I’m a moderator, hahaha!).

I have to agree that SEO is an important issue, but its also not one that coders invest much time in. Perhaps under General Web Building we could have a sub-forum that includes SEO, advertisement issues, e-commerce, etc? I have seen a fair number of questions related to the monetary side of web development...perhaps it would be useful if it was broader than just SEO.

Won't work, you can't give other moderators infractions.

Interesting, and I can agree with your point to some extent - coders don't spend much time thinking about SEO - BUT THEY SHOULD!

Using proper Semantic HTML, and the basics such as unique titles and meta descriptions for each page can GREATLY enhance your SEO performance.

All too often, programmers, coders and designers get in the mentality of "I just do x". Backend programmers will write sloppy table based code, front end coders won't look at optimizing images, and designers use all the fancy stuff they can not realizing how difficult it is to implement, and no one thinks about SEO.

The reality is, working together and having a solid understanding of how your work interacts with the entire site can greatly improve your SEO performance and usability.

Thats exactly the kind of talk I like to hear.

SEO is also difficult, having tried my hand at it a few times I still have a lot to learn. While it might not be worthy of its own forum, its worthy of a sub-forum in my opinion if it is coupled with some other outlying issues like I suggested above. This is a coding and DEVELOPMENT forum, which means not just coding
