I recommend ActivePython, it's been an excellent IDE (Integrated Development Environment) to me though I've never used any others. It claims that it runs on Windows, Linux, and Solaris. It's not open-source, but it's free.

Other than that, every distribution of Python comes with IDLE, which stands for "Interactive DeveLopment Environment". The ActivePython interactive interpreter is basically IDLE with automatic indentaion.

I used to have a pile of links as my signature for learning Pyhon, but I removed them and replaced them with a useless reference to my not-yet-developed site.

Here are some Python links I have bookmarked, some reference and some tutorials:
Python. Definitely check out the manual here.
    Python Mini Manual
    Sockets in Python
How to Think Like a Computer Scientist (if you're new to programming and Python, you might like this)
Python Tutorial/Reference Repository (more than 100 tutorials here) -- also includes links to books that they have used a five-star system to rate
    Python Cookbook
