putting icons in the IE tool bar??

I have two websites that I go to several times a day as part of my work. Rather than having to open up and scroll down my favorites list of links is there a way that I can put an icon with a link to those pages in that tool bar that's at the top of IE (the one that has the icons for 'home' and 'refresh' etc.)?

I recently downloaded a free program that put an icon in that tool bar so I know it's possible....but how...?

Simple, bring up one of the sites (use IE) you'd like in the toolbar and right-click on the background of the page. Select Create Shortcut from the menu and let it create a shortcut on your desktop. You can then copy or move that shortcut from your desktop to the toolbar using drag and drop or cut and paste methods.

When I did that and I tried to drag and drop the shortcut onto the tool bar it gives me that circle with a line through it (meaning 'NO' you can't do that).

I did drag the icon to that little >> to the far right of the address window and it added it to that little 'short list' of links.

Is that the best I can hope for or is there another way to get an actual icon next to the 'home' icon?

    Thanks

    Good luck

I am not aware that this can be done. Short of modifying ie's code to incorporate this it cannot be done.

You could make do by adding the link to your links folder in favourites. That way it can show without opening favourites.

Well, I know there's a way to modify the bg on the toolbar. I've done it on my box, but I can't remember the config file you need to modify to do it. Search the .ini files where MSIE is installed, one of them may have some info.

    adding Fav pages to toolbar

    that little >>
Is just telling you there's more stuff there but I'm sure you knew that.

I never knew you could even do that. I tried different ways and nothing came up.

The only thing I'd suggest is just adding those two links to the "Links" toolbar. You can customize the "Links" toolbar and just have those two links on there ((get rid of all the other links *cough*junk that you don't like)) and keep that up

---> Customize the 'Links' toolbar and keep that one up.
BTW, del' links off this bar is very easy, and adding is just <---
