Moving everything from one harddrive to another...

Hi, I have a 13 gb harddrive with windows 2k installed on it filled to the max with stuff. I have another new 200gb harddrive unpartitioned. I would like to copy the 13gb drive to the 200gb drive and be able to use the full 200gb with one partition. Now this would be easy to do by formating the 200gb and installing windows and copying the files, but because there are so many programs installed and so many updates for windows 2k I do not want to do this. I was thinking that maby using something like nortan ghost I could do an image copy of the 13gb drive to the 200gb drive and then somehow make the partition size bigger with something. Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can use Ghost and set it so when it copies it will copy it to a new partition using the maximum drive capacity, if you just say to copy the entire disk I think this is the default behavior. Then all you would have to do afterwards is configure your 200gb in the place of the 13gb so windows will still load. So basically if the 13gb is the primary master right now, you'll need to set your 200gb to that and move the 13gb some place else like the primary slave otherwise Windows will complain and not boot.

Norton Ghost would be the best way to do this I think. If you want to resize partitions etc then use something like Partition Magic.

Ok thanks! I don't personally own nortan ghost but somebody I know does I'll borrow it from them. Would you happen to know of any free or shareware/trialware type programs that could do it?

Not off hand, its not the kind of program people really give out since as you can imagine, a lot of work is involved in it. But you shouldn't have to use another program to re-size the partition, Ghost should handle it all like I said earlier.
