    In-car PC

I'm wanting to build a PC to use in my car, but unsure on how I'd get it to work from a 10 - 14v power source (car battery). Is there some kind of invertor or adapator I can use to make it run from a battery?

sage: I think hes thinking of a desktop computer built into his car. Those adapters are for notebooks and laptops only....

I'd personally get a laptop and then get a power inverter to use from the car cigarette lighter. Less hassle

Probably would've gone that way, if I didn't have a screen etc already installed in the car The pc is just another add on to it (addicted to turning the car into a spaceship )

O I see....in that case, you could get a mac mini or something and then hook it up to the screen

A mac mini is a great idea, it's small, reasonably priced and would look stylish in the car Other than that, a laptop might work...

i think you would have to connect it to your igniton, so it only runs when yopu start the engine otherwise, it will drain your battery. Also i think you will need an on button on its case as if you move your car to another parking space (less than 2 mins away) your pc would boot.

    Sounds a cool idea.

Yeah, will be running from a battery, but got a infra-red sensor to turn the power on and off for the pc. Got the cables I needed for the power etc today, just a matter of wiring it all into the car now and attaching all my other stuff to the pc
