Question Windows ME Problem! Aarows are now "8"s under start menu

    I need some HELP!

I recently installed 2 different FTP programs and one of them made the aarows under the start menu all "8"'s. Does anyone know how to change this?

    Screenshot? Name of faulty program?

Perhaps you could just try uninstalling the FTP program, but you've supplied us with very little information to be honest.

I don't use Windows ME anymore. But I once had a similar problem when I used to. The keyword then was shelliconcache. I don't remember if it's the name of a command or the name of a file. Do a search in your Winme help file for shelliconcache. Also try running it from a command line. You can also search for the file.
Whatever it does is that it restores all your icons back to their default

BTW - Why do you use winMe? I think it's about the worst windows so far (just my opinion though)
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life... What have you done today?

Agreed - Windows ME was the last MS DOS based OS, but it still bought the problems. Windows ME has a similar required system spec as windows 2000. Win2k is a lot more reliable, more stable and a lot more secure I recommed installing win2k

That might be a problem with a system font (Marlett.ttf), and/or the font cache... since many symbols are fonts in Windows--not icons.

I totally agree. In fact I HATE it. My Win2k cd wasn't working at all and that was the only OS that I had on hand. Trust me I don't want to use it at all!

I will look on my computer at home for that file, but I really want to upgrade my OS instead.

    THANKS ALL!
