Get ZoneAlarm and disable Windows Firewall. From what I remember of Windows firewall it's minimalist and generally a poor excuse for a firewall when you can get better and easier-to-use programs for free. The ZoneAlarm firewall alone is free, but you can buy a pro version if you need more features.

Windows firewall is total rubbish. I say turn the bugger off and install either ZoneAlarm or Mcafee personal firewall

    Win Patrol

I've got to agree with Weaz, Windows firewall is a joke! Also, get Win Patrol, that little dog keeps things pretty straight...

Well windows firewall works to a certain extent, but at the end of the day, it isnt as useful in functionality as some of the other firewalls around, like McAfee Personal Firewall and ZoneAlarm.

Also, I've never heard of Winpatrol so I can't give any feedback on that

if you go into the windows firewall prog there should be a list of programs that are allowed past it and such. Just go into there and add MSN...

Once with a mates computer windows firewall wouldn't open at all in the control panel - so I managed to disable it and then install a 3rd party firewall. Windows firewall isn't worth it's salt to me.
