It depends on what you want it for. Windows is best for gaming/coding/music production. Macs are excellent for photo and video editing, business, and communication/social things. I don't know much about Linux, but if you are a gamer and enjoy Linux, Steam is soon releasing their SteamOS, a Linux based gaming operating system.

I also use Windows 7, and I think most of the people are using this OS because it is really too good for new users as well as experienced users.

I have Windows 7 and Ubuntu on my notebook and they are both pretty good.

Can't remember the Ubuntu version right now!

Windows XP was good, but became outdated, and can no longer handle what is required for the industry today. I personally prefer Windows 7 over Windows 8.

I think surely LINUX is best os of PC. Because the available choices of Linux distributions and Linux software may be overwhelming at first, but if you know where to look, it shouldn’t take long for you to find good online guidance.

I think the site WhyLinuxIsBetter.net has some very good reasons why Linux is superior.

But there are lots of choices within Linux. A particular distribution of Linux and is called a distro. The site DistroWatch keeps track of them all and compares them. There's an informal popularity ranking on the far right side of that page. Linux Mint has been number one for a while now, but I prefer Fedora Linux.

This is a very helpful post. I'll be making my old XP into a Linux now :P

Anyway, I'm going to ask for a threadlock. I feel as though the useful information has been explored and is now a post-count tool.

(Is there a better way to ask for a thread to be locked? :/ )

Right. I wish they could create an OS similar to WinXP. I would prefer using it than these latest Windows OSes, however, they no longer provide support...

I would use them if they could still handle what the industry is using today.
