How advantageous will it be to upgrade the ram in my netbook?

Crucial.com shows that I can add another gig of ram to the following netbook (for a total of 2gb). Given the current processor, what can I expect in terms of an increase? I'm still not familiar with the advantages of processing speed and memory and how they interact/compliment one another. All I know is that this machine gets agonizingly slow once a few things are opened. I realize this device isn't intended for heavy use but I'm hoping to get some kind of performance increase. Anything.

It is always advantageous to upgrade RAM to the max if you can afford to. Same for getting a hard drive (HD) that has more space and buying an external backup drive if HD is large enough.

If you upgrade your RAM in your notebook, you will increase the speed of your notebook. But remember, you must be check it your notebook capacity, especially for maximum RAM that can be installed.

Very. It's cheaper these days to replace older hardware with newer hardware. Trying to upgrade an older machine could be costly.

For example if your machine is using DDR1 or DDR2 type RAM you'll spend more money on less RAM than you would buying DDR3 RAM.

http://www.tigerdirect.com -- You can get 4 GB of RAM for around 23 dollars. Alot of the time shipping is even free.

That's based on the OS, and type of OS. 64 bit can recognize more RAM than 32 bit.

it may or may not increase speed tbh....

what you'd b advised to do is keep an eye on your system cpu and memory usage..... if you tend to use a lot of your ram or find yourself dipping into swap, then yes upgrade your ram...

if however your ram usage is low but your cpu usage is high... upgrading your ram wont do much at all... and you'd be more advised to upgrade your cpu...

and max ram capacity isn't just about 32 or 64 bit either.... it can depend on your motherboard...

having said all that...... ram is cheap comparatively

Yes it is always wise not to take any advantage with your RAM. Make sure that you always keep your RAM updated as this will help the machine in working faster.
