    Windows 8 administrator password

I'm thinking about buying a new computer by the end of the year.

By this time new computers will come with W8 pre-installed.

Anyone know if there will already be a default administrator password set, if so what it is, and how to change it?

    All help much appreciated

like windows 7 the default administrator account in 8 is inactive by default (and by default no password as iBall says) and unless you activate it (#net user administrator /active:yes or run lusrmgr.msc) you wont even see it.
    resistance is...

MVC is the current buzz in web application architectures. It comes from event-driven desktop application design and doesn't fit into web application design very well. But luckily nobody really knows what MVC means, so we can call our presentation layer separation mechanism MVC and move on. (Rasmus Lerdorf)

    Thanks Firepages

Will I still have to use the UAC if no administrator password is set?

Reason is that at the moment I'm still using XP - as I don't see the use in upgrading if i'm getting a new PC.

In Windows 7 you will also see the hidden adminstrator account by booting into safe mode but as mentioned it does not have a password by default.

I always use this hidden admin account in the non-professional versions of Windows in order to set permissions on groups/directories since you normally cannot do this with user created admin accounts on home editions of Windows. Makes me wonder if Microsoft even knows we can do that.

Hi UAC is on by default in Windows 8 whether you have an administrator password (or admin account password) or not, but you can still disable via the CP or msconfig

It hasn't. There are two modes to it. You will be much better served by actually using one of the previews.

Last Windows I used is XP.

Does this mean Windows is doing what a lot of Linux are doing? disabling admin account by default?

I assume this means Windows is getting a half decent run as admin mode
