    PC's only see each other through wifi and not when I content a Ethernet cable

    ive set up to laptops with the same workgroup in windows.

    however they can only see each other through wifi and not when I content a Ethernet cable.
    any ideas?

    Same problem here, got a new PC so thought I could use my Ethernet cable to transfer files and whatnot, but didn't work!

    Let me know if you find out please

    the vista lan settings says its unplugged when I connect it to the windows 7 computer

    When I connected my Windows 7 64bit to my Windows 7 32bit, on my network connections I could see 'Unidentified Network' on both meaning they could see each other but I could not do anything...

    vista has Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller

    but win 7 has realtech PCI GBE familly controller

    the cable connects both and I can transfer files fine with wifi, but bit with cable!!
