    Paid for and free options

I was interested in this too - so had a bit of a look.

http://www.anypdftools.com/pdf-to-word-for-mac.html is a PDF > Mac Word converter which is paid for $39.95 though offers a free trial - not sure how limited that would be.

However further hunting has found this:
http://www.nirmaltv.com/2011/03/10/p...mac-simpo-pdf/ which USED to be a paid app, but is now for free download.

Hopefully one of those might be of some use.

It depends whether the PDF is mostly text or a mixture of text and images. I seem to think that copying and pasting from preview is pretty successful on mac, particularly on some of the later version of OSX. Seem to think apple made an announcement saying they made this easier.

2 free ways to do it... 1 libreoffice will do it.... another is if you have imagemagick installed yo can run the command convert from your terminal along the lines of

    Code:
    convert input.pdf output.jpg
the you can import the pic to word/libreoffice

sometimes a straight out pdf to word convert will fail due to..... issues and convert to a picture then embedding said pic in doc is your only way

PDF is designed to be generally unalterable, as is the page of a printed book. If you select text within the pdf file you may be able to copy and paste it to an OpenOffice file, provided the pdf author permits the copying when generating the pdf file. Otherwise you may need to use an OCR program to translate the pdf file, which is a picture of text, back to individual characters.

I think that You will need an extra application like Adobe Acrobat. Converting PDF to Word is not so easy (on any OS). I tried this once on a Windows PC, but the result was so bad, that I gave up. I don't know how many documents You have and what You need them for. But sometimes it is just quicker to just copy the text from the PDF and to paste it in a word editor and to edit it there.

Other solition: read this: how to convert PDF to MS word on Mac os
