    mask

    I have a domain registered:

www.mackenzieconsol.co.uk and it automatically forwards to:

    http://194.168.19.128/mackenzie/login.asp

    (my server)

How can I mask this, so that just www.mackenzieconsol.co.uk is shown in the address bar in IE6 when www.mackenzieconsol.co.uk is entered??

    Thanks in advance.

did you just buy a forwarder or did you get a proper domain, a lot of domain registrars rip you off by wording their adverts in such a way that you think its a proper domain but its just a forwarder

-you can use zoneedit.com (or a static ip dns server) for dns
-"new website" on the server for the subdomains & forwarding to a page/dir when a certain url is used (on a server os only i think)
-and a great registrar is www.uk-plc.com

ok on their site it says "FREE NAMESERVER CHANGES"

so either set up dns server (www.cablewebserver.com has a good forum and tutorials on stuff lke this)

or use zoneedit .. i have a dynamic ip o i use zoneedit

they will give you 2 nameservers to use, change your ukreg nameservers to the zoneedit ones and it will load your zoneedit dns settings on there

that will just point your domain at your ip, the file needs to be done either by putting something in the root of the ip that redirects, or (if you have a server operating system such as nt serer, 2000 server, 2000 advanced server, server 2003) you can do "new web site" in the iis settings to show a different website when a certain domain is added

    useful tutorials:
setting up the doman and dns: http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_.../main/DNS.html
using subtomains and forwarding to directories based on domain names: http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_...ir-server.html
