    Localhost testing of ASP scripts

After finally loading of PWS on my Win98 SE OS puter, I find it wont allow me testing of cDonts mailing scripts

Does anyone have any ideas on how these might be tested off-line or at least within my own puter and server?

My present IP doesn't support asp.

    Thanks and Cheers

afaik, cdonts is not included in pws, you need to dl and install it, or switch to NT4 or W2K

    Hi Roelf...

Can you explain please what you mean by downloading cDonts?

In one or more of the tutes I read about testing ASP they mentioned d/loading NT Server 4.0 Option Pack for Intel if users were running Win95 or Win98.

I went to the Windows site they nominated and got all 50 odd files on my puter, only to find on setup it told me it was only for NT4!!

Could you please provide more detail so I can ultimately test these scripts?

    Thanks Mate

you definitely need at least NT4 and IIS4 to use CDONTS which exactly means "Collaboration Data Object for NT Server"

Following comments from tutorial/info sites: Both mentioning NT4 Option Pack for Win98

    1. http://www.learnasp.com/learn/whatis.asp

    ASP is:

an abbreviation for Active Server Pages
FREE and already built into Win2000. It is part of IIS and must be added with add/remove programs menu there.
FREE for NT4 or Win 95/98 if one installs the NT4 Option Pack. Can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nt...Pk/default.asp
since ASP can be installed on Win 95/98 computers to test ASP scripts; thus we can conclude the NT Option Pack4 has a very misleading name since it installs on Win 9x as well.
The code inside ASP is mixed in with standard HTML and is NEVER seen by the browser. ASP pages run in ALL browsers UNLESS the person making the page uses HTML or browser commands outside of the ASP portions.

    Just an added note:
Testing Cdonts is probibly fine when having it installed correctly, but it wont acually send out an e-mail unless you have an SMTP server installed.

Ahhhhhh... so I better not try and re-invent the 'cDont wheel', eh?

I'm glad you added that extra info coz I'd still be trying to get test mail out in the new millenium!!
