    Adding onclick behavior to treeview images

    im working on an app that uses a treeview control for a portion of the navigation i needed to fire an onclick event when the user clicks any text in the treenodes. i accomplished this by adding a span as the text string with the event added like so

      tn1.Text = "<span onclick=""javascript:parent.regpage(this.parentElement.getAttribute('href'));"">" & boundvalue & "</span>"
    this works as expected(in ie) but my problem is that I cant seem to get the event to fire when a user clicks an icon image in the treeview rather than the text link. is there a way that i can wrap this before binding? I dont guess the treeview allows template fields.

    any thoughts?
